Divvy Chicago Un‐docked eBikes
After catching up in this forum, I learned that Citi eBikes are not allowed to dock out of station. NYC is docking station only. The thing about Chicago, besides being 3x smaller than NYC, is our Divvy bikes are left parked/discarded all over the place. That, along with the scooters, makes for quite a mess. Now, having said that, you'll see in the photos, the eBikes are clutter up everywhere in the Loop (our central district). But come rush hour, they are all cleared out. For the Angels, it could be great for points if the un‐docked eBikes are grouped together near a station. But in practice, the GPS is so inaccurate, that hunting for a bike is often a futile endeavor. Sometimes, the docking stations are full, and many, many eBikes are parked alongside. That helps a lot, when in a normal situation with a manual bike, you wouldn't be able to park at that station, the eBikes, for a fee of course, can be cable locked anywhere.jm2 years agoHustlin' Helper576Views0likes2CommentsI was switched back from the new point system to old and it screwed my rewards
I've been on the new points / rewards system for a few weeks and have accumulated 460 points for the month. This morning, they switched me back to the old system but didn't award any of the rewards I should have gotten. What's worse, when I do cross the 10 point thresholds, I'm getting lyft credit and not the $$$ I should be getting. This afternoon at 18:14 on Forsyth and Grand I saw this guy pry open the battery container and take out the battery and put in his bag and form his other bag he stuck another battery in the docked bike (presumably a dead/broken one) and moved over to another ebike in the docks. I walked by him doing that but was afraid to take a photo when I was close in case he hit me (he was using a crowbar and a kryptonite lock to get at the batteries) or something. The current classy rewards end at 5,000 points, a level which was instituted by Citibike at the outset. Many have surpassed that. So I'd like to see additional reward levels at 10,000, 25,000, 50,000, etc, with a commensurate valuable gift like a key chain, pen light or baseball cap. Also, I'd like to see statistics for how many Bike Angels have achieved levels above 5,000 points. Hi all, since becoming a frequent Citi bike rider I have noticed that QR codes will be scratched out/burned off. Sometimes I walk quite a while to go to a location of an e bike and it’s really a poor experience to learn that you cannot unlock the bike and that the wrench button does not work. Chatting in with the help option does nothing. Sure, at first glance, it's probably not practical, but it's definitely fair. When the pickings are low, or anytime, hunting around for eBikes can be quite time consuming. And "returning" an eBike that has seemingly been discarded back into service is a big bonus to Citi/Divvy. They have a truck that looks for isolated bikes, but still, there are many in all nooks and crannies of the cities Why should active Angels get "penalized$$$" for going far and beyond gathering stray eBikes together? Greetings, I have been noticing some issues with point allocations since the recent changes were made to point allocations. pickup and drop off points seem to be a little skewed - especially in midtown in the evenings there are not even any neutral bikes - I just checked 2 stations near W42nd St and, while there were over 40 bikes available at each, they were “dropoff” stations, even though one of the stations had only 2 available docks. I’ve also noticed a number of stations entirely offline (upper east side for me) where there is a station full of bikes, with pick up points available, but none of the bikes can be unlocked. Usually says the the bike isn’t docked properly or to try another bike. These things are is something I’ve noticed a marked increase in since the recent points change. Down stations
Went to two stations today that were ostensibly pick up, but both were down. The only pick up stations in the neighborhood. Every bike was "unavailable" and not even a grinding sound of the lock trying to unlock. Leads me to believe they were out of power. Totally happens. I get it. This morning I took a bike from an 8-point pick-up station to a station in downtown Manhattan that, when I arrived, had 43 open docks, and of the 5-6 bikes at the station, only one or two bikes were functional. But this nearly empty downtown Manhattan station was offering points for *picking up* bikes, not for dropping them off. What gives? I wound up getting no points for the ride because there wasn't a single station downtown in the area of my destination which was either offering drop off or no points and had functioning docks. The only one that offered no points at all, at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge, was almost entirely full except for a single dock that was not working. Ended my 2x streak, too. There appears to be a bug with earning 2 silver spoke awards in one ride: another shoddily-scripted system flaw. This happens if you are earn > 20 points in a ride and those points bring you past two silver spoke milestones. For example, I went from 57 points to 81 points with one (3x-boosted) 24 point ride. The bug is that my membership was only extended 7 + 2 days intead of 7 + 9 as is warranted for silver spoke #3 and #4. Is there any way to report this to the devs? I've been trying to fight for my missing 7 day extension, but I keep getting promised escalations or follow-ups and then nothing is ever resolved. What is the best way to get legitimate support? Both chat and phone support promised escalation and follow-up via email, but nothing has come. Phone support said that the email would arrive "within minutes." Although it works pretty well in general, there are two ways it behaves oddly. 1. When you look at the number of bikes at various locations, the count is accurate. After you unlock a bike and look at the same map, the number of bikes at nearby locations changes wildly (usually overestimating the number of bikes at your target station). Not a big problem, but clearly a bug. 2. This one just bit me. The backstory is that a couple months ago, I took a bike out at 112th and Fred Douglass thinking that it was a points-neutral station. Someone else was also taking a bike out around the same time. When I arrived at my +12 destination, I got zero and and end-of-streak notice. Ack. I attributed it to my own mistake and have since double-checked the point value before I pick up a bike and always avoid unlocking at the same time as other riders. But a few minutes ago, I went to the same station, checked that it was neutral before unlocking, verified that no one else was unlocking, and moved a bike to a +12 location and got the same unhappy notification -- ack! Has there been any change to the point system recently? As of this month, I'm seeing tons of stations with a single bike and no dropoff points (Brooklyn / prospect heights area). HiJess, Tire pressure is becoming a huge problem, particularly on classic bikes. Nearly every bike I've ridden in the past several months has had low to flat back tires. So I've been thinking this is another area where Bike Angels can come to the rescue. In short: Send us power inflators with the proper cartridges and we will inflate tires for you--in exchange for points, of course!😉 Here's my idea: Create a "tire pressure" option in the feedback portion of the app. This will help you identify bikes most in need. Add a "service" icon and and "inflate" layer to the Bike Angels UI so we can identify and service bikes. This layer will reflect points rewarded for particular bikes (say 5 points per tire, since this is hands-dirty work). Create a pilot group of Angels and send us power inflators. Ideally, these should be smart inflators that connect to the app. We scan/enter the bike ID to confirm we are servicing the correct bike Receive specific instructions on which tires need inflation. Gauge and inflate either or both tires using the inflator. Receive points! Alternately, we can select bikes that may need to be serviced that are not yet flagged in the app: Click the "service" icon and scan/enter the bike ID. Use the inflator to gauge the tire pressure of the bike in question. Receive instructions on inflation and points to be rewarded via the app. Inflate tire(s). Receive points! I think the citi bike app used to automatically sync activity w/ the apple watch, but it doesn't anymore and you need to select outdoor cycle on your own. I've looked at the setting on the app but can't find anything related to that. Am I missing something? or will this feature be available in the future? However, Bike Angels sometimes need to use the system just like everyone else and don't want to lose our Boosts because we are in a hurry. So here's my idea: Add a MonthlyBoost Freeze Reward: Keep it at the low end so a Freeze is available to most Angels (say at 20 or 30 points). This is similar to Duolingo's Streak Freeze, which members get each month. No Accumulation Limits/Expiration: We don't want to incentivize Angels to use them. We just want Freezes to be available when needed so we can use the bikes like anyone else without being punished for it. Let unused Freezes accumulate regardless of month earned. Quick Access Icon: We'll be hurrying to work or for a train so add an option to the app to use a Boost Freeze when a non-rewarded ride is necessary. OR Boost Freeze is Default: At the end of an unrewarded ride, prompt: "Do you want to use a Boost Freeze? You have ## Boost Freezes Remaining." If the Angel does not answer, use the Freeze (we're in a hurry, remember....) Randomly Award Freezes: Let additional Boost Freezes be randomly awarded in the same way Duolingo randomly awards Streak Freezes. Say you finish a ride and get a prompt, "You just found a Boost Freeze!" Nothing like an unexpected reward to raise that serotonin level! Buy Boost Freezes with Points: Let Angels buy additional Boost Freezes with points (maybe 5, but no more than 10). Shareable: Allow unused Freezes to be gifted to other Angels (no monetary exchanges permitted, of course). This can help build a sense of community. So is the "miles left" reported for each bike reduced every night (since the GPS drains battery)? I have on several occasions tried to pick up a bike with <10 miles left, but the bike either doesn't do anything, or the red battery LED blinks, and its not possible to use the bike (in the app it waits for say 60 seconds, and then you can check out a new bike). So there are two solutions to this: 1. Reduce the battery life automatically per night, and automatically take bikes offline when they are below some threshold. 2. Show a "last battery status" time stamp, then you as a user can decide if its worth it to try to pick it up. (example, if a bike shows 6 miles 3 days ago, it is most likely utterly dead if you try to pick it up today). Recently I biked from a pickup station and docked at a neutral station -- but the neutral station was offline and the docking was not recorded. I had to call support to release the bike, but I still have not received points. My history shows the bike docked at the neutral station, but has no points and says "you did not dock at a station." This has happened to me several times, and appears to be a glitch in the system. I have contacted support several times, and no one has answered. On September 23, 2021 @ 8:30am, there were zero bikes near my home on the upper west side. My closest station showed 1 bike, but it could not be unlocked. This happens EVERY DAY. There were 33 bikes at 78th and Riverside Drive, but this only offered two points to DROP OFF MORE BIKES. No points could be earned moving these bikes to the empty docks along Central Park West. WHY? I walked to the East Side then took the subway to Houston Street. I arrived at 11am (same day) and EVERY DOCK WAS FULL. Like 100%. IN A 4x4 BLOCK AREA (Houston/Mott area), THERE WERE 223 AVAILABLE BIKES!!!) Most docks were offering 4 points to pick up a bike. There were no empty docks for dropping off bikes. Seriously, CitiBike. The UWS NEVER has bikes available. I always see your box truck dropping off bikes at Grand Army Plaza and UES (First Ave btw E67 & E68). Do you think you could fill a truck in Soho and deliver the bikes to the UWS? Seems so obvious to me. The app design has become really user unfriendly. It is now so hard to find your location on the map. The blue dot hides behinds the station bubbles, and when you recenter and zoom, the blue dot is not even in the center of the screen it seems plus they now make it a green circle when you are on the bike —which also hides behind station bubble—and is not intuitive. Leave it blue! also let’s go back to the map design without the bike icons. They are pointless and clutter the map if you need to differentiate between bikes and scooters (not an issue in NYC) then use colors and have a legend on the map it’s really annoying to use also I don’t like that you don’t get a running tally of your bike angle points. Anyone else notice just how difficult it’s become to get Bike Angels points? Seems there are lots of points to be had in certain areas of the city, but they’re almost always exclusively drop off points and not for angels to take out! Really getting sick of this. Not sure it’s even worth it anymore to participate. What incentives are there at this point? Things have taken a decisive turn for the worse since Lyft took over. There are obviously some angels - based on the leaderboard- who are spending significant amounts of time in a competitive quest for points. I’ve certainly seen 1 or 2 of them recently. I went to the station at W74th & Columbus at 11:50pm on Wednesday night. The station was worth -1 point, meaning Bike Angels could receive one point bring a bike to this station. The problem, 24 of 24 docks were full and I watched riders ride away because they could not dock their bikes. This experience makes me wonder, what are you smoking at the Bike Angels HQ? How can you have negative points at a full station? I'd love to help improve biking in NYC, but it seems like Citibike is not even trying. Stations that are full should offer positive points to create docking stations for other riders. I have patiently waited for my lifetime rewards 500, 1500 now 2500 and seem to be getting nothing. My partner received rewards even after completing milestones well after me so what gives. To add to the confusion, I looked on my Citibike app today and all of my stats are gone and I can not see points for the stations. Just a taunt saying "You're a Bike Angel". Hey Citibike/Lyft, There seems to be problem in the coding when you hit 200 Bike Angel points. My account stopped registering points and told me I needed 900 more for the next reward. I've seen a few other post s online where other members have also had issues when they hit 200 points. I really enjoy using my citibike credits for ebike rides. I do NOT want to use them on lyft. Whenever I try to use lyft car service, it automatically includes ALL of my hard-earned citibike credits in the total lyft ride calculation. Please revise it to tell me how much the lyft ACTUALLY costs. After I agree to the ride, then I would like the option of using some or all of my citibike credit.
