But just wait until tomorrow....) Internal Mega Angel Software Engineer — Lyft Transit and Bikes I’m Robert, and I'm a strong believer in Bike Share as something that makes the world a better place. I use it and public transit all the time. The benefits in terms of pollution reduction, fewer cars on the road, etc. are fantastic. I also really love meeting other Angels. There's something wonderful about seeing the other person also dashing between stations and staring at their phone the same way that I do. We are all ages, all backgrounds, and all genders. We are often intense, but Doing Good. Hoping to meet more and more folks while out moving bikes. Although I don’t work on Bike Angels directly, I'm an active internal user (over 12k points), and I actively give early feedback and try my best to catch things and represent folks in the Angel community. Most recently, I’ve been working on tools that help the team simulate rides and ride conditions. My lifetime score is 3276; Even though we can test Bike Angels features just through software in our pre-production environment, I really want to go out to earn some points every week because it feels different if you need to bike and walk for your points. I find reading the balance between what's needed for the system and fun to do for the riders challenging, and seeing people get really caught up and excited about Bike Angeling super rewarding. I work with the team to think of ways to improve the Bike Angels experience and hopefully make it more engaging. Most recently, I’ve been working on the new redeemable rewards structure. I'm a Bike Angel in San Francisco, a landscape with a lower density of points due to lower bike density, so my experience is a bit different than Angels in New York. I've travelled to New York various times to better understand Bike Angel point earning patterns, study point discrepancies between neighborhoods, and get a better sense of how efficient NYC Angels actually are! Hello Bike Angels! My name is Sef and I work on the Bike Angels team, tinkering behind the scenes with many of my great teammates. We are super excited to be launching our Bike Angels Community and even more jazzed about adding all our Angels and riders in the future. As we grow the Community we want to incorporate your ideas for what would make this a helpful and fun space to check out. So always be open with what you want to find in the Community and we will see if we can make it happen. To get started, we want to get to know YOU. What got you excited about Bike Angels in the first place? What keeps you riding today? What is your favorite leisure trip when you aren’t hustling for points? (extra street cred for photos of your favorite spot or ride) Post your answers for the questions above in the thread so we can all get to know one another! P.S. We had an open bug where when you logged out the site would remove your profile picture, but this is fixed now. As you introduce yourself be sure to add a profile photo to your account. Looking forward to getting to know you all!sef4 years agoBike Angels Team3.9KViews3likes15CommentsDon't do it!
Logically, signing up for Pink would remove you from Bike Angels, right? Why would Lyft undermine Bike Angels when they are doing such a poor job of balancing the bikes? Has anyone in NYC been able to make 90 angel points in an hour? Because I figured that's about minimum wage, so therefore it's one way to measure your success. I can't seem to even make 90 points in 2 hours. Curious to hear about other bike angels with this in NYC. Perhaps it's easier in other areas, or different times, & being in better shape helps too.Ilike2bike2 years agoHustlin' Helper1.6KViews0likes15CommentsMoral Dilemmas in Bike Angel Land
I often find myself in the following dilemma. I am moving a bike from one location to another, and the destination is pretty strapped for bikes. (In fact, sometimes there is a person waiting around for a bike to arrive when I show up.) The problem is that the bike is in sorry shape (for example, the gearing has a problem, etc.). I feel bad about flagging a repair issue that will take the bike out of service when bikes are needed; at the same time, repairs are needed. How do others handle this situation?Octimon2 years agoSteady Solver1.2KViews1like5CommentsFavorite Street In NYC
Hello fellow Citi-bikers! If you are reading this article I assume you love citi biking and have probably done it enough to know what roads you enjoy and what roads you don't. The other articles I have seen so far are more serious and I felt like it would be fun to discuss more lighthearted topics. Hence, I am here asking for everyone's favorite roads to bike on in NYC. Personally, I am a big fan of 5th Ave headed south from 40th Street. It is all downhill and although there is no bike lane, riding the bus lane makes it exhilarating and passing the Empire State Building offers some nice scenery. I am also a big fan of Park Ave headed north from Union Square. I am not from NY, so as a child I always heard about Park Ave and to think that I can now bike on one of the worlds most famous roads is a fantastic feeling. There are plenty other roads that I enjoy riding on but I would like to hear from other people what they enjoy. If you have a road in mind leave a comment and I look forward to reading some of the responses 🙂Haskell3 years agoResourceful Rider1.1KViews5likes5Comments
