Collection Complete !
Welp. This completes the collection for now (I think). It's been a fun ride and a great journey. I will continue to utilize Citi Bike for my daily commutes and look forward to any upcoming rewards down the line, the system sure has come a long way. Thank you to much to Jess and team for being so persistent and making sure I got all my rewards in. See everyone out there!T1m3Wizard4 days agoSteady Solver250Views10likes5CommentsIs it worth returning an ebike/scooter to a dock?
This might be news to our NYC friends, but in Chicago you can leave an ebike/scooter just about anywhere. Knowing whether returning an undocked ebike/scooter to a station is a net reward or not depends on how far away the dock is (X-axis, in minutes) and the points offered (Y-axis). I thought it would be interesting to make a chart for that: Bike Angels points valued at $0.20/point (based on 150 pts reward $30 Lyft credit) Red is bad (the ride fee is more than the reward), green is good, and yellow's kind of a wash. For ebikes it's easy to guess because reward is $0.20/pts and cost is approx $0.20/min. Scooters are more expensive so it's a bit tricky to calculate in your head, but aiming for 2x sounds good (e.g. if your trip is 2 minutes you should be looking for 4 pts).Wim9 days agoResourceful Rider194Views2likes9CommentsHow are people accumulating so many points?!
I’m just wondering how some angels are amassing soooo many points. I’m in awe! I thought I was doing a lot when I hit 450 points last month but I see some are doing that in one day. $144 a Year for Divvy, and without exaggeration, the system, and bikes are in the worst condition since the program's inception. Just saying. Hello Bike Angels! My name is Sef and I work on the Bike Angels team, tinkering behind the scenes with many of my great teammates. We are super excited to be launching our Bike Angels Community and even more jazzed about adding all our Angels and riders in the future. As we grow the Community we want to incorporate your ideas for what would make this a helpful and fun space to check out. So always be open with what you want to find in the Community and we will see if we can make it happen. To get started, we want to get to know YOU. What got you excited about Bike Angels in the first place? What keeps you riding today? What is your favorite leisure trip when you aren’t hustling for points? (extra street cred for photos of your favorite spot or ride) Post your answers for the questions above in the thread so we can all get to know one another! P.S. We had an open bug where when you logged out the site would remove your profile picture, but this is fixed now. As you introduce yourself be sure to add a profile photo to your account. Looking forward to getting to know you all!sef3 months agoBike Angels Team3.9KViews1like12CommentsDivvy. Disorganized System.
So... I'm picking up an un-docked eBike, and, at the same time, the battery change truck wanted to swap out the battery Explaining it would only take a few minutes at most for the reset, and wanting to, "help out", I agreed. Twenty minutes later, the bike finally reset, and when I tried to unlock, the bike went out of service. That was May 29, and the bike is still there, in the exact same spot, right out in the open of a busy street (photos). Out of service, and abandoned Divvy eBikes are left in many places of the city. The numbers I'm seeing must have an effect, on the system. Divvy Angels need a cash for points option and a incentive to redistribute working out of dock eBikes Thank youSolvedjm3 months agoHustlin' Helper121Views1like8CommentsHappy New Year 2024 Bike Angels !
Here's to a Happy New Year to all the Bike Angels out there and especially Jess and team who's been striving to resolve all our problems and making the experience better. (I still haven't gotten my bag but that's a story for another time lols). Anyways, keep racking up those points and I have faith that the system will continue to get better. Overall, my experience has been good/great aside from maybe 2-3 issues throughout my decade long membership. I hope others are enjoying it as well as Citi Bike has become quite an important and entrenched way of life for most of us in our commutes to work/school, etc. See you all on the road!T1m3Wizard9 months agoSteady Solver224Views5likes2CommentsHi Bike Angels! I'm a Bike Angel in San Francisco, a landscape with a lower density of points due to lower bike density, so my experience is a bit different than Angels in New York. I've travelled to New York various times to better understand Bike Angel point earning patterns, study point discrepancies between neighborhoods, and get a better sense of how efficient NYC Angels actually are! Ask me anything.Points per hour, are you doing well?
Has anyone in NYC been able to make 90 angel points in an hour? Because I figured that's about minimum wage, so therefore it's one way to measure your success. I can't seem to even make 90 points in 2 hours. Curious to hear about other bike angels with this in NYC. Perhaps it's easier in other areas, or different times, & being in better shape helps too.Ilike2bike2 years agoHustlin' Helper1.6KViews0likes15CommentsFavorite Street In NYC
Hello fellow Citi-bikers! If you are reading this article I assume you love citi biking and have probably done it enough to know what roads you enjoy and what roads you don't. The other articles I have seen so far are more serious and I felt like it would be fun to discuss more lighthearted topics. Hence, I am here asking for everyone's favorite roads to bike on in NYC. Personally, I am a big fan of 5th Ave headed south from 40th Street. It is all downhill and although there is no bike lane, riding the bus lane makes it exhilarating and passing the Empire State Building offers some nice scenery. I am also a big fan of Park Ave headed north from Union Square. I am not from NY, so as a child I always heard about Park Ave and to think that I can now bike on one of the worlds most famous roads is a fantastic feeling. There are plenty other roads that I enjoy riding on but I would like to hear from other people what they enjoy. If you have a road in mind leave a comment and I look forward to reading some of the responses 🙂Haskell2 years agoResourceful Rider1.1KViews5likes5CommentsDead E-Bikes

The most challenging thing about working with the Bike Angels Team is trying to understand how and why the points map changes, mostly based on guesswork since I'm not on the team. I hear about things like stations with A & B rows of docks and try to figure out if they will make it easier or harder for us to help us Angels make the system more balanced. Bike Angels is rewarding to me, because I love helping other riders get bikes when they need them and docks when they need them. The times when someone is super stressed, and I show up just in time to help them, really make my day. Being an Angel at Lyft is great, because you get to see that the people working here are really dedicated to bikeshare (and shared scooters too)! I feel like I have feet in both worlds: a rider who loves being out on a shared bike, and a member of a team who are passionate about providing shared micromobility.robert_halo2 years agoBike Angels Team201Views1like0CommentsAMA Host Intro: Remco
Remco | Remco 3,674 Lifetime Points Community Mega Angel Software Engineer — Bike Angels I have been doing software testing in some form for most of my career. Within Lyft, I've mostly worked on tooling that allows people across the team to test features, including a tool that helps people take test rides without leaving their desk and simulated ride, which is a load testing tool we also use to continuously ensure service health in our pre-production environment. I'm a father of two girls, so most of my weekends are taken up by schlepping kids from parties to activities and so on, but occasionally I get to go on a date with my partner. I'm an intermittent photographer, but I shamefully have to admit that I've mostly started taking pictures with my phone because phone cameras have just gotten too good. I'm also the main cook in our household, so I can prepare a pretty decent meal. As a proud Dutchman without a driver's license I love getting around on bikes and by transit (not that I have much of a choice) and I love working on a product that helps generate the demand and critical mass that will make cities better for cyclists and pedestrians. Many weekends you can find me biking around on our family bike with two kids in the back seat. I wish it were safer for them to bike on the street. Maybe someday…AMA Host Intro: Eliza
eliza | Eliza 206 Lifetime Points Redeemable Rewards Expert UX Designer — Bike Angels As a UX Designer on the Bike Angels Team, I have the challenge of crafting a program that works for Angels of different engagement and experience levels. Mechanisms and features need to work really well for top-earning Angels, but we also strive to make the program more accessible and understandable for new participants, which can be difficult to balance. After learning about how dedicated Bike Angels are after joining the team a few years ago, I find it incredibly rewarding to work on a system that supports those trying to help other bikeshare users get a bike or a parking spot. It can be very frustrating to not be able to get where you need to go. Outside of biking for Bike Angels, I often cycle on my personal bike using it as my primary transportation (no car here). I'm also an amateur illustrator – you can find me at an independent comic book store most weekends. I love Desert Island Comics in Williamsburg!Where do you like to ride in the Spring? 🌸

I often find myself in the following dilemma. I am moving a bike from one location to another, and the destination is pretty strapped for bikes. (In fact, sometimes there is a person waiting around for a bike to arrive when I show up.) The problem is that the bike is in sorry shape (for example, the gearing has a problem, etc.). I feel bad about flagging a repair issue that will take the bike out of service when bikes are needed; at the same time, repairs are needed. Cranksgiving 2021!
Hey there Bike Angels! It's almost time for the best ride of the year: CRANKSGIVING! If you haven't joined before, this is a food drive on two wheels. Founded by NYC bike messengers in 1999 as an alleycat race for a good cause, Cranksgiving has grown to 112 cities nationwide. Each Cranksgiving is organized independently in partnership with local community organizations and is a great opportunity to help fight food insecurity, give back, ride a bike, and maybe earn a few points while you're at it! The upcoming rides are November 20 in Manhattan, November 21 in Queens*, and December 4 in Jersey City. Props to anyone who attended the Brooklyn event earlier this month. *The Queens ride is outside of the Citi Bike service area, but may interest folks who have their own bikes.InbarBikes3 years agoBike Angels Team484Views2likes0CommentsDon't do it!
