Hey there, Ilike2bike, thanks for sharing! Can you provide a bit more detail about what you mean by net positive points? I'd like to hear more to make sure I'm understanding 😊
An example would be if you pick up at a 12 point pick up station & drop off at a 3 point pick up station, instead of getting the net positive 9 points, you get no points & your 3x boost streak is ended.

I'll take a crack at answering...
"pick up at a 12 point pick up station & drop off at a 3 point pick up station"
Well, yeah.
Cause you're not, as they say, making the system more healthier which is the goal of the Bike Angels program.
The computer says the drop-off dock NEEDS bikes taken out, regardless of what's actually happening on the ground. Like a 12 point drop-off at a full station or some other crazy stuff we see throughout the days.
Another example I learned that will end your streaks is, " Lost Booster After Using Cable Lock"

This only applies to cities that allow out of station docking of eBikes but the whole thread is still an interesting read

My logic is that while a 12 point & 3 point pick up both need pick ups, the 12 point pick up needs it much more, so assuming the algorithm is right, that is making it healthier, and in the long run leads to more incentives, leading to more potentialy healthier system.

Yeah... Except...
You're not picking up at the 3 point station and instead doing exactly what is not "healthy" for the station and dropping off, right?
So, while the pick-up helps the system, the drop-off definitely does not and I guess, Lyft has determined the redistribution algorithm works better on the whole when Bike Angels are not purposefully loading up, or taking away, bikes from stations that do, or don't need bikes.
But, what do I know.
Good suggestion anyway. It surly woukd make our job easier.

Thanks for providing this example. I apologize for the delay in reply, but am glad to see our community stepped in to help!
Looking at the thread here, I would agree with jm that the example ride is not beneficial for the system since both stations need bikes moving out.

Gee thanks JM, but for the rest of us why would one station have a much much higher pick up point number than another if it's meaningless?

Not sure what you're referencing by "meaningless".
And I have no idea how the algorithm determines station points or Lyft's logic beyond, "health of the system."
But, I'll offer up the (Divvy) Bike Angels app has flaws. Many frustrating flaws. Particularly with the determination of points and allocation, as well as huge errors (e.g., a full station with huge drop-off points, or vice versa).
Still... we greatly appreciate Lyft's Angels program, it's something to do, and here in Chicago, we're especially glad to avoid paying the 130$ yearly fee.
Now, having said all that, I haven't been on a Bike Angels run since the implementation of the new "bank points" system.
I don't need Lyft credits and I "banked" a years worth of membership extensions in a couple of days.
Although I miss the excitement of the chase, the traffc risks and aggravation of getting around people was not welcomed, and now, thanks to Lyft's new innovative "banking system", I don't have to ride each month to extend my membership.
Now... if Lyft was to offer Chicago's Divvy Angels a cash payout similar to Citi NYC, I'd be all in, as well as, I suspect, a couple hundred other people in Chicago 🙂
