When I get my receipt for e-bike rides, I notice that the credits to offset the ride are applied after tax is added. But this seems like a waste of e-bike credit and maybe not how discounts usually work. If the credit was applied before tax, then the total would be zero and the tax would be zero and the ride would still be free, but I would get to keep more e-bike credit. Is this by design? Can this be changed? Thanks!Solvedslowpoke2 years agoResourceful Rider801Views3likes1CommentWhat does the "bike_angels_digits" API field represent?
When making the request to https://layer.bicyclesharing.net/map/v1/nyc/stations,here's what one of the response elements in the featuresarray looks like: `bike_angels_action` and `bike_angels_points` fields seem pretty straightforward, it's just the _digits one that is stumping me. Anyone have an idea what it might represent? I've only seen it have values of either 0 or 1. 0 whenever `bike_angels_action`'s value is "neutral", and 1 for whenever the action is either give or take. Found the API endpoint fromhttps://github.com/chrnola/citibike-api-docs, no idea whether its an official one but when cross-referencing the values with my Android app, it appears to be accurate.SolvedPat2 years agoResourceful Rider1KViews4likes2CommentsBike angels not visible in app in NYC

If anyone from Citibike is reading this....I've posted a few times about still waiting on rewards from last year. I've called Customer Support. All a black hole with empty promises. I earned the steel key a year ago now and was told it was on its way several times until this spring when suddenly I was told there's no more. Then told they had them but they were blocked in some port (why couldn't these have been produced locally?) and I'd get soon. Then told actually no. Then told I'd get something by August. It's now mid-October. EVERY time I've been asked to confirm my mailing address (which I've done at least 9 times that I can remember, possibly more). WHEN WILL I GET MY REWARD FOR 2500 POINTS?? I'm now closer to 5000 points than I was to 2500 and still waiting. What is the actual expected date? Has anything been shipped from wherever? If this difficult, why not order from elsewhere?? Let's see if anyone responds. I'm not holding my breath since my expectations are now at rock bottom for Lyft and Citibike doing the right thing. Over the past few months there have been too few bikes uptown and midtown, and far too many bikes in Brooklyn - specifically lower Park Slope, Kensington, and Red Hook. It seems to me that many of the places where bikes are lacking are on higher ground, and many of the places where there are too many are on lower ground. The non-Angel users of Citibikes are mostly riding downhill, and there is not enough balancing being done by Lyft. TheBike Angel program used to use a more varied point structure that helped balance the bikes more, but now the points seem to have been limited to 4 points maximum. There are simply not enough Bike Angels incentives to ride these heavy bikes uphill in enough numbers to combat the downhill trend.Throcky4 years agoCasual Commenter1.6KViews5likes2Comments- Abe6224 years agoResourceful Rider568Views1like0Comments
How To Drive a Bicycle
Hey kids! When I was 14, I rode motocross, and later I would own numerous dirt bikes, mountain bikes and even a couple of nice Italian racing bicycles! My favourite hand-made cycles are KHS, Cannondale and Brompton. In NYC, I've never bothered to buy a cycle. I never thought it was a pro-cycling city. STILL don't really! :)) When cycle hires came to NYC, however, I thought it was perfect! Why? Cos I switched to BorisBikes in London (and even used Vélib in Paris). These cycles are built like tanks and have limited gear action for speed safety and less experienced cyclers. The bikes themselves? come from a Montreal based company called PBSC behind the famous BIXI scheme. The CitiBike cycles are exactly the same design and virtually indestructible. Why waste money trying to be fancy? Most of the New York cyclers clogging the tiny commuter paths can't even drive a cycle! And there are too many motorised cycles on the path. In London or Paris? you'd likely be cited for reckless driving. I highly recommend you simply BEEP/RING your HORN to PASS another rider? Why not? When you PASS especially on the LEFT–you risk a sudden turn by the driver ahead of you. Very few riders use any sort of signaling as they TURN. Most important? What's your HURRY? The automobile drivers in NYC should give you a clue how BAD driving gets you nowhere in a city like New York! 🙂CreativeMF4 years agoResourceful Rider483Views0likes0CommentsNew to the community

Has something changed recently where you can no longer take back out a bike you just docked? My work to home ride is right on the 40min line and on a hot day when I’m slower I often dock once I reach the park and then take it back out to avoid going over 45mins. I docked but then it wouldn’t let me take the bike and said please take another bike. Only problem is the dock was empty so I had to walk to another one. Same thing happened when I had a crap electric and passed a dock with one electric. I docked, went for the other, it was red lit so I went back to my original but it wouldn’t let me take it, “bike unavailable, please take another”. Had to get my bag and walk back to the original dock. Very annoying feature if they’ve changed something.ChrisSJ4 years agoCasual Commenter2.6KViews5likes6Comments- IZC4 years agoResourceful Rider638Views0likes1Comment
